Resource Strategic Change Facilitators

Facilitation Programme

ILM Logo The Process Iceberg® Facilitation Programme is designed to give individuals the skills and expertise to become effective Facilitators, capable of operating in a wide variety of situations.

It is also designed to provide the structure and framework to introduce a facilitated approach to improvement, innovation and change in organisations.

The Programme provides the opportunity to embed the models and tools. In addition it provides the underpinning theory to bring knowledge and understanding and helps people to assess and develop their skills. It is inter-active and experiential and each stage of the Programme builds on the acquired aptitude of the previous one.

There are a number of Stages in this process each of which provides the opportunity to enhance your competence as a Facilitator. The Qualification will depend upon the number of Stages undertaken and the degree to which the learning is applied in an organisational context.

This Programme can be run in-house. It can also be run in any country where there is a sponsor in that country.

Facilitation is not ‘consulting’. It is not ‘participative training’ (though the approach will benefit trainers). It is not another form of coaching. At its core ‘facilitation’ is about helping groups find their own answers to issues. The facilitator needs no expertise in the subject – in fact it is better if they don’t have any knowledge to bring! The facilitator creates, designs, and provides the process by which the group arrives at its answers. In most cases as the task changes the facilitator is ‘designing’ the process ‘live’. The style of the facilitator will depend on the process maturity of the group and the uncertainty of the task.

This Programme is about providing groups, who may or may not know each other, to handle uncertainty and to provide them with processes that will enable the group to solve problems and develop answers to key questions. At the Professional Facilitator level you will be able to facilitate events and groups tackling a wide range of difficult situation. At the Participative Change Management level you become equipped to fulfil the role of a change agent.
